At Cornerstone Academy, we believe music is not simply an elective or an extracurricular activity—it is an essential part of a classical education. Band ensemble gives students the opportunity to experience beauty, discipline, order, and harmony while developing skills that benefit the whole person.
Ensemble playing adds another important dimension: students learn to listen not only to themselves, but also to those around them. Each musician has an individual part, yet every part contributes to something greater than itself. Students learn cooperation, responsibility, humility, and leadership as they work together toward a common goal.
In the classical tradition, music has long been understood as a discipline that forms the mind and shapes the character. Through band ensemble, our students encounter the beauty of music while learning to appreciate their responsibility within a community. By beginning these experiences early, we help cultivate students who are disciplined, attentive, creative, and capable of contributing their gifts for the good of others.
Pre-registration is FREE and is a crucial first step to help us determine if this class will be offered next year.
Traditional concert band instruments: flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, and percussion. Oboe and bassoon also available, but please communicate with your child’s band director before selecting those instruments.
Playing in an ensemble setting such as a concert band is a unique music experience because we work together to create something bigger than they can accomplish themselves.
This performance-based class is a great way for students to gain confidence and to grow as musicians – and in every aspect of their lives!
